Most of the work we do is knowledge work. What does that really mean? Are there characteristics to knowledge work that we should consciously address when we seek to do this type of work faster, more cheaply, or better? Though I've spent more than 25 yrs working to improve knowledge work, I still consider myself a student. In this blog, I hope we can learn from each other. I can get us started-where we go from there is up to all of you. Thanks for taking the time to read and participate.

I'm Off to the Getting Things Done Summit

I'm back from Phoenix (ASQ Lean Six Sigma Conference) and headed out to San Francisco next week.

Here's why.

  1. I'm on a quest to explore first hand how David Allen's Getting Thing Done GTD system may relate to 5S.
  2. If anyone could personally benefit from getting something done, it's me. Just ask my editor and publisher (The Basics of Process Mapping; I'm currently writing the 2nd edition now.)
  3. I like his website as a "model" platform; I'm hoping to make face-to-face contact with the invisible design wizard(s ) behind the public online presence of Mr. Allen.
  4. I like going to the source when I come across something useful.
  5. Click the post title if you are curious about the Summit.

I'll let you know what I learn upon my return.
