Most of the work we do is knowledge work. What does that really mean? Are there characteristics to knowledge work that we should consciously address when we seek to do this type of work faster, more cheaply, or better? Though I've spent more than 25 yrs working to improve knowledge work, I still consider myself a student. In this blog, I hope we can learn from each other. I can get us started-where we go from there is up to all of you. Thanks for taking the time to read and participate.

Would You Be Interested In Joining a Community around the "7 Principles for Improving the Workflow of Knowledge Work?"

Since the "lessons learned," and "challenges" associated with improving knowledge work continue to evolve, I'm thinking about forming a community so that we all have a designated online "place" for us to contribute to, and learn from, each other.

Here are my initial thoughts.

I'd probably organize a lot of the information on the site according to the "7 principles." So, for instance, if we have lessons learned or challenges regarding the principle, "Improve from the Outside-In," there would be a "spot" with this heading. We could put all the information we think relates to this principle there, for all to see and use.

I'm thinking about including resources or links to resources that I've created, collected, or reviewed there as well- also organized by the "7 principles." Resources may include articles, examples, work products I've created, used, or discovered, book reviews, and presentation excerpts, etc. Over time, we could even include podcasts, videos, and pictures if you tell me these would be helpful.

So what do you think?

Would something like this be helpful?
