Here is some of what I've been up to between January and now.
There is nothing quite like giving a presentation in front of your peers to sharpen your focus and help you lose sleep the night before. I used to present all the time at national conferences but got out of the habit over the years.
Anyway, I'm told that the presentation on "Improving Knowledge Work: Lessons Learned" that I made to the ASQ Lean and Six Sigma Conference this past February was "well-received."
Since I hadn't made a talk like this in awhile, naturally I asked for proof of this assertion-after all, talk is cheap. So the Conference staff sent me evaluation data from the people who were there and sure enough the numbers looked very good. Now, I'm scheduled to give the same presentation with updated information of course, at 2 other conferences this fall.
No good deed goes unpunished.
Good thing that the talk did go well though, as I have been serving as the Education and Body of Knowledge Working Group Chair for the ASQ Lean Enterprise Division for about a year now.
In this role, I've also been working with the SHINGO PRIZE folks to help define and document a "Lean" body of knowledge that will benefit the overall lean community. This is one of the most requested items from our ASQ Lean Enterprise Division (LED) members. LED members tell me that they are especially interested in a body of knowledge that addresses the application of lean principles, systems, and tools throughout the entire Enterprise (in addition to it's origins in manufacturing).
I am happy to say that we now have created an Enterprise-wide lean body of knowledge.
Let me know if you are interested in more on either the presentation or the body of knowledge.
Happy Holidays!
